For a long time I’ve been wanting to create something creepy – something that will be just as good as the old Goosebumps books’ covers, yet be a reminder for the good old B-movies VHS covers.
Obviously, I’m not there yet, but I keep practice and I hope that in a year or two I’ll be able to create really impressive things.
First step was choosing the color palette. I eventually used purple & cyan shades, which were quite popular back in the ’80s.
On to my next step, I’ve made a vector version of my drawing:
Once I had it ready, I started painting it using my graphics tablet.

I hope you like it. I’m already thinking of my next project: A Goonies poster.
It will be quite a challenge for me to draw, since I am not experienced with drawing people, but it’s something I really want to do – so I’ll just have to find a way.
